Camp Manitowa
At Camp Manitowa our summer camp near St. Louis in Southern Illinois strive to provide campers an environment that fosters all the skills parents want their kids to develop early on in life. Our Rend Lake camp is a non-religions program that serves campers 2nd to 9th-grade. Kids gain independence, build self-esteem, and learn about cooperation and problem-solving, all while making new, lifelong friends. We offer a small community for campers so that they feel like they are part of the Manitowa family. By offering structured free choice activities, we encourage kids to feel a sense of belonging and control over their experience, which leaves them feeling empowered and able to learn and grow. View a typical day at Camp Manitowa and a map of the grounds. With so many water, art, sports, and nature activity options, campers will want to return to Manitowa for years to come. We serve campers from St. Louis, Indianapolis, Chicago, Kansas City, Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Denver, and the many communities of Southern and Central Illinois.
ASLD Summer Camp- Artist Trading Cards (Ages 6-7)
Art Students League of Denver
Artist Trading cards measure 2.5” x 3.5 “and are created and traded with other artists. Artists will use different techniques and media to create their collection. The artists will create a container for their cards. The class will open with a daily “do now” that will prompt the young artist to reflect on what they are noticing in the world by answering simple reflection questions. On the last day, artists can share their art and trade cards. Materials provided. Instructed by Susan Vaho.
Seize the Story: Fiction Writing Workshop for Teens (Age 12-17)

Get ready for an intensive workshop to learn skills in writing fiction from an award-winning author. There will be storytelling games, flash-fiction prompts, detailed writing skills sessions, and discussions about writing. In this camp you will join other writers in creating a story with moving descriptions, memorable characters, and an ending that leaves your readers wanting more. Our weekly outdoor nature camps offer a unique opportunity for kids and teens! We have something for everyone, with Weekly Camp Themes for ages 5-6 or ages 7-12, and a Junior Counselor Program for ages 13-17. A session for campers runs for one week from 9am-3pm Monday to Friday. Junior Counselor sessions run for two weeks from 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday. The Urban Farm
Story Book Farm is a magical place for young children to explore and learn about farm animals and plants. Each day, campers experience a different part of the farm, like the cheerful poultry area or the calm cows, goats, sheep, and horses. They also discover the important role of pollinators and learn hands-on about composting and gardening. The farm's educators make learning fun by incorporating music, art, STEM projects, and animal interactions into each day's activities. Each week of camp includes a TUF Camp t-shirt.

This fun and exciting workshop will explain the systems of our body through the lens of childhood curiosity and play by talking about and exploring everything adults don't really want to talk about. Kids will spend the week learning things like how our body makes a scab, where ear wax comes from, why we hiccup, and what spit has to do with taste.

The Urban Farm
Each day, campers will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide range of engaging activities that will deepen their understanding of animal care, food sources, and the inner workings of farms. Through captivating storybooks, interactive musical lessons, stimulating STEM activities, memorable animal interactions, and delightful games, campers will embark on a journey of knowledge and discovery. By offering a diverse range of experiences, we aim to foster a love for nature and an appreciation for the vital role that farms play in sustaining our communities. Each week of camp includes a TUF Camp t-shirt.
ASLD Summer Camp- Made, Lost, & Found (Ages 11-13)

Make art that’s lost and found! Each day, students will make a piece of art or several that they can hide in the world. The possibilities are endless: art could be hidden in the park, around a garden, or hung on a tree. All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD. A Graphic Novel This Way Comes (Age 12-14)

Aspiring artists will explore the comic book as a wholly developed narrative; commonly referred to as graphic novels, these works of art combine highly developed themes and visual art in one piece.

Unleash your inner fashion designer! Campers will create their own fashion design kits for a 9" mannequin to test and wear, including fabulous fabrics, pins, velcro, and plenty of accessories. We'll explore how to plan and design pieces, as well as create functional wearable art pieces for ourselves like scrunchies and iron on patches to add to your favorite jacket, jeans, or backpack.

Animal interactions including engaging and working with sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, donkey and miniature horses. Campers will get their hands in the dirty while gardening in soil and then travel to the STEM Station to do hand on experiments and learn all about the science and technology that keep farms running. Campers will stay active and learn teamwork while participating in games and challenges that help reinforce each days lessons. Each week of camp includes a TUF Camp t-shirt.

ASLD Summer Camp- Mad Science Monotypes (Ages 14-17)

Make monotypes and monoprints with mixed media using mylar, styrofoam, and non-toxic inks. Drypoint, relief printing, and trace monotype will be explored. This is a good intro to the various techniques of printmaking. All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD. Instructed by Joe Higgins.
Girls Rock Coding: Python (Age 9-11)

Calling all girls who code - the world needs you! Using the easy-but-powerful scripting language, Python, it's time to join other graphic artists and engineers to create your own games and websites. Robotics I: Introduction (Age 9-11)

Get excited about robotics with this unique camp designed for students with no experience in robotics or programming. Using hands-on building material and basic programming, students will discover the world of robotics through interactive learning with Mindstorm EV3 Robots. Assemble mini-robots using a micro controller, multiple sensors, and servo motors. Tell the robot what to do by programming commands using EV3-G programming language.
