Since 1980, Steve & Kate’s Camp has put kids in charge–allowing campers to choose from a variety of activities in real-time, including sewing, stop-motion animation, coding & gaming, sports & recreation, maker crafts, water play, baking, and more. As children are empowered to make their own choices at camp, they discover new reserves of confidence, resiliency, and creativity–learning to course correct and trust themselves as they go. Families can buy any number of days, to use at any time–no weekly reservations required. Or, buy a Summer Pass, which covers the whole season. Paper dolls have been around for centuries, and together we will paint and draw our own! After idea generation, we will make a jointed doll out of cut paper pieces and a traditional paper doll with an assortment of clothing and accessories! We'll also make settings for our dolls to play in. Students will use drawing and painting materials as well as collage. At the end, students will be encouraged to share a bit about their doll. Learn how to make a print using household recycling stuff! We will use Tetrapak containers (think ½ gallon milk cartons or juice boxes) as plates for making an intaglio print. In this class, we’ll discuss printmaking techniques like chine colle (adding other paper to your print), drypoint methods, and color theory. Students will learn how to operate an etching press, work on composition skills, and get better at mixing colors accurately. Materials provided. Instructed by Ren Cannon.

At Camp Manitowa our summer camp near St. Louis in Southern Illinois strive to provide campers an environment that fosters all the skills parents want their kids to develop early on in life. Our Rend Lake camp is a non-religions program that serves campers 2nd to 9th-grade. Kids gain independence, build self-esteem, and learn about cooperation and problem-solving, all while making new, lifelong friends. We offer a small community for campers so that they feel like they are part of the Manitowa family. By offering structured free choice activities, we encourage kids to feel a sense of belonging and control over their experience, which leaves them feeling empowered and able to learn and grow. View a typical day at Camp Manitowa and a map of the grounds. With so many water, art, sports, and nature activity options, campers will want to return to Manitowa for years to come. This intensive two-week test prep course focuses on the ACT exam providing a thorough review of the core content while also emphasizing strategies that help students diagnose and solve test questions successfully. All students will receive the Higher Ground Test Preparation Manual, 12 hours of instruction, 2 practice tests to assess performance level, assessment reports, and supplemental materials. |
