ASLD Summer Camp- The Art of Encaustic (Ages 14-17)
Art Students League of Denver
Learn to paint with wax. We'll use all the encaustic tools: pancake griddles, heat gun and wax pigments to explore the many ways to make beeswax artful. Encaustic is very forgiving, making it accessible to artists of all levels. All supplies are included in the materials fee and will be provided at ASLD. Instructed by Michele Messenger. Special Note: We will use hot tools (griddles and heat guns) and sharp x-acto knives.
PowerUp Chess: Introduction (Age 6-8)

This camp is designed to help students learn the FUNdamentals of chess including basic piece movement, checkmating patterns, and other foundational principles of the game in a dynamic and engaging environment. Students can expect to spend the first part of camp becoming proficient in piece movement and other foundational game principles. Once mastered, students will learn basic checkmating patterns, chess opening ideas, and play in tournament-style chess games. Co-Sponsored with PowerChess.
Beginner Pickleball: Power of the Paddle (Age 8-14)

Witness the power of the paddle! Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced game that's easy to learn for all. Come develop all the necessary skills including scoring and game structure, sportsmanship, stroke production and drills. All skill levels are welcome and no experience or equipment is required. Club Pickleball USA will provide balls, paddles if needed, snacks and a whole lot of fun! The final day will feature a tournament format to showcase your new love of Pickleball!

Our weekly outdoor nature camps offer a unique opportunity for kids and teens! We have something for everyone, with Weekly Camp Themes for ages 5-6 or ages 7-12, and a Junior Counselor Program for ages 13-17. A session for campers runs for one week from 9am-3pm Monday to Friday. Junior Counselor sessions run for two weeks from 8:30am-3:30pm Monday to Friday. This entirely outdoor camp has plenty of mud, bugs, creek time, sunshine, and adventure!
UMOCA One-Day Workshop: Painting in Glass Enamels (Age 14-17)

This class will teach the fundamentals of sports statistics as evaluators of efficiency and performance. We'll experiment with visualization techniques and learn how the implementation of stats has evolved over time. For musicians and non-musicians alike, this hands-on introductory course into music production uses the latest computer technology for creating, recording, and writing music. Learn the basics of music notation, audio and midi file types, mic types and placement strategies (hands-on work with mics, mixers, and interfaces), digital audio editing, Apple loops and beats, mixing (panning, reverbs and delays, submasters), software instruments and introduction to synthesis.

In this fabulous week of camp, we'll make our very own Hobby Horse -- (parents, if you're not familiar, these were the stick horses of our childhood and have made a major resurgence, understandably so! ;) -- that you'll learn to ride, and even take outside onto a course! In addition to making our own pony, we'll spend plenty of time outdoors riding our horses this week over mini jumps and through obstacles.

Campers will get their hands in the dirty while gardening in soil and then travel to the STEM Station to do hand on experiments and learn all about the science and technology that keep farms running. Campers will stay active and learn teamwork while participating in games and challenges that help reinforce each days lessons. Each week of camp includes a TUF Camp t-shirt.

Using hands-on building material and basic programming, students will discover the world of robotics through interactive learning with Mindstorm EV3 Robots. Assemble mini-robots using a micro controller, multiple sensors, and servo motors. Tell the robot what to do by programming commands using EV3-G programming language.

Join us this summer as we celebrate the Club World Cup that will be played in the US. We will be delivering a special curriculum themed around the Major Adidas-sponsored Clubs around the world who will be playing in the tournament. They will learn about the culture and styles of play associated with the specific club of the day. Ages 5-10 years old are all welcome to join. Players will also hear about legendary soccer players and even play their very own Club World Cup Finals!

Intensive ACT Prep: 2-Week Workshop (Age 14-17)

This intensive two-week test prep course focuses on the ACT exam providing a thorough review of the core content while also emphasizing strategies that help students diagnose and solve test questions successfully. All students will receive the Higher Ground Test Preparation Manual, 12 hours of instruction, 2 practice tests to assess performance level, assessment reports, and supplemental materials.

The Urban Farm
Campers are immersed in the daily operations of the farm learning how to care for animals, plant seeds, and be stewards of the land. Animal interactions including engaging and working with sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, donkey and miniature horses. Campers will get their hands in the dirt while gardening in soil and then travel to the STEM Station to do hands on experiments and learn all about the science and technology that keep farms running. Campers will stay active and learn teamwork while participating in games and challenges that help reinforce each days lessons. By offering a diverse range of experiences, we aim to foster a love for nature and an appreciation for the vital role that farms play in sustaining our communities. Each week of camp includes a TUF Camp t-shirt.

Program Description Learn to paint like a pop artist with techniques in comic dot, repetition and 3D images. With Arduino circuit boards and software, you can program your very own autonomous robots! Each day, you will use microcontrollers, wiring and breadboards, DC motors, LEDs, Distance Measuring Transducer Sensors, touch sensors with motors, to build your customized vehicle!
Intermediate Pickleball: Power of the Paddle (Age 8-14)

Witness the power of the paddle! Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced game that's easy to learn for all. Come hone in your skills including scoring and game structure, sportsmanship, stroke production and drills. Intermediate students should have basic knowledge of the game and have previous played. Club Pickleball USA will provide balls, paddles if needed, snacks and a whole lot of fun! The final day will feature a tournament format to showcase your new love of Pickleball!
Robot Art Camp (5 - 8 yrs) June 9th-13th, 1pm - 4pm

Beep boop bop! This camp week is all about robots! Using a variety of different materials we will be making robots each day, and of course having fun playing with them too. Campers will create both robot sculptures, as well as kinetic robots including Scribble Bots and Wind Up Bots. We'll take a break from building and paint a canvas inspired by our new robots as the subject, and have plenty of time for open ended art making and exploration this week.
