Ages for which our activities are most appropriate:
Longmont Museum is a center for culture in Northern Colorado. The Museum features a permanent history exhibition and changing shows such as hands-on exhibitions for families, art exhibitions and more. The Museum is also home to the 250-seat Stewart Auditorium, which hosts concerts, theater, films and lectures. Other programming at the Museum includes adult art classes, summer camp and school break camp for kids, outdoor summer concerts, and history programs.

Education

The Longmont Museum has a variety of education programs for all ages. We have ongoing programs, such as our "Discovery Days" program for ages 2-6 and a caregiver, Thursday night Art & Sips for adults, and our annual summer camps for kids. We also offer programs in conjunction with our current exhibits, and programs for school groups.

Summer Camp - Camp at the Longmont Museum is filled with adventure and fun! Learn more and register.

Adult Programs - The Museum hosts great educational programs and classes for adults too.

Day of the Dead - Learn more about our annual Day of the Dead exhibition, family celebration and related events.

Discovery Days - Discovery Days is an early childhood program at the Longmont Museum that encourages children ages 2 to 6 and their parents/caregivers to engage together in educational, hands-on art activities.

School & Teacher Programs  - Discover the history of Longmont, learn the ways of the Plains Indians, or play "curator" during the Longmont Museum's school tours and programs.

Events & Performances

The Longmont Museum hosts many events throughout the year. The addition of the Stewart Auditorium and the venues within it, including the Cone-Shortall Stage, the Swan Atrium, and the Kaiser Permanente Education Center, provide a variety of flexible spaces for events from 20 people to 250 people.

Historic Collections

The Longmont Museum's collection includes more than 17,000 objects, 10,000 photographs, and thousands of documents relating to Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley. They document everyday life - farmers working in their fields, ordinary workers in local factories, traveling businessmen, and much more.

Exhibitions

Regional history, internationally-known artists, and explorations of culture are all part of the mix of exhibitions at the Longmont Museum. Permanent exhibits document the 14,000 years of human history in Longmont, and the people who helped to create this community. Special exhibits in our Main Gallery and in our Portal Gallery change frequently, so there is always something new to see.
