My name is Julia Baldwin and I am thrilled to welcome you to the wonderful world of music. Every student has a unique set of abilities and way of learning, which is something to be embraced. I strive to tailor my teaching style to the individual needs of each student. Learning to play the piano can be a life-changing experience and whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced player looking to refine your skills, I am here to guide you on your musical journey.

About Me:

With a lifelong passion for music that was sparked in me at the age of 5 by my grandmother, I have always highly valued the importance of music education and literacy. I began formal lessons at the age of 7 and had the privilege of participating in numerous events such as the CAPMT Piano Celebration and Baroque Festival during my childhood years.

Following my early training, I pursued further musical education under the guidance of piano professor Dr. Brandon Bascom at Fresno City College for two years before continuing my piano studies with Andreas Werz at CSU Fresno where I had the privilege of being the recipient of a number of their scholarships for music majors. In 2020, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSU Fresno with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education.

In addition to my teaching commitments, I have enjoyed collaborating as a pianist for choirs and have served in various leadership positions within the California Association of Professional Music Teachers and the Music Teachers National Association.

I began teaching piano part-time in high school and quickly realized it was something that I was truly passionate about. Over the past 10 years, I have been teaching piano to students of all ages and skill levels, and it has been an incredibly fulfilling experience.

I believe that music is a form of self-expression, and I strive to help my students develop their own unique style and voice. By encouraging creativity and individuality, I hope to inspire my students to continue exploring and developing their musical abilities long after they leave my studio. Teaching piano has been a wonderful journey, and I am excited to continue growing and evolving as a teacher and to help my students reach their full potential as musicians and lovers of music.

Teaching Style:

I strive to develop a customized learning plan for each of my students, depending on their goals and needs. I implement a combination of the Faber method, Alfred method, and compilations of works by talented piano pedagogs such as Keith Snell, Martha Ashleigh, Ingrid Jacobsen Clairfield, Melody Bober, and Julie McIntosh Johnson. I have found that by using a combination of these resources I am able to focus on all eras of music history and style, as well as cover all bases of theory fundamentals.

As a piano teacher, I aim to provide a warm, supportive, and engaging learning environment with honest yet positive feedback to help my students become confident and self-motivated. I offer both in-person and online lessons to all ages and levels!
