Sculpt + Shape invites young artists and engineers alike to dive into the world of 3D design and construction! In this 12-session course, students will explore diverse sculpture techniques, from traditional materials like clay and wire to inventive forms using mixed media and found objects.

Through each project, they’ll gain hands-on experience with foundational principles in art and engineering, learning how to bring ideas to life in tangible, creative ways.

Participants will discover how to transform simple materials into expressive shapes, dynamic forms, and intricate structures while building critical skills in problem-solving, spatial awareness, and design thinking.

By the end of the course, students will have a collection of unique sculptures and a new appreciation for the art and science of making. Perfect for curious minds ready to shape the world with their hands!

Every semester creates a new focus with materials/processes based on the interests and needs of the group.

Demos, lessons, and project inspiration will be provided, but if kids have different plans or ideas, they may choose to work with materials and subject matter that deviates from what is presented.

All young artists will create something that is age appropriate and in line with their experience and comfort level. Each student will go home with varied art. How much they make will depend on how they like to work and what they have time for.

We will end the semester on the last class day with an in-person display to showcase the work done throughout the semester.  Families are welcome to come in the studio the last 15 min of the last class day for an Artist's Celebration of all of the displays.

Notes

Our classes allow for flexible drop off until 15 min after start time. We understand that it is sometimes hard to get to the studio on time after school. Your child will not miss anything major if they arrive up to 15 min. after the start of class, so please join us if that was your only hesitation! No refunds or make-up classes for missed days. If a course is canceled due to weather, we will schedule a make-up session.
