This class is all about learning about the artists who revolutionized Modern Art. Each week students will be introduced to a new Modern Art artist and become familiar with the artist, their style and use those skills to create their own work of art. In this class we will be working with acrylic paint, watercolor, oil pastels and other mixed mediums. This is not your “classic” art history class. Get excited to learn and create!
Additional Class Information
Week 1: Kandinsky
We will be starting off the class with Wassily Kandinsky who was one of the founders of abstract art. Inspired by his paintings, students will create their own abstract work of art.
Week 2: Matisse
This week is all about creating colorful and whimsical pieces inspired by the Fauvism style of Henri Matisse.
Week 3: Warhol
We are channeling our inner Andy Warhol as we design our own Pop Art creations.
Week 4: O’Keefe
We will be learning about Georgia O’Keefe and her larger-than-life flowers that will inspire our own flower creations.
