Enjoy a horse drawn wagon ride to and from the sod homestead provided by Colorado Carriage & Wagon. Take a guided tour to the homestead with buildings lit with oil lamps. Taste hot apple cider and molasses cookies fresh off our wood cooking stove and use hot potatoes to keep your hands warm. Our buildings will be decorated with authentic 1887 holiday decorations and guides will discuss holiday traditions of the homesteaders.
$25 per member or $30 per non-member
Visiting Plains Conservation Center:
Take a trip back in time to Colorado’s high plains and pioneer life in the mid-1800’s. The Plains Conservation Center is a true-to-life homestead stretching across 1,100 acres of dedicated open space. Historic ranch houses, a schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and barn plus an heirloom garden and chicken coop and a Cheyenne camp with tipis bring the experience to life. The Learning Center and library are open by reservation to schools and groups. Special seasonal events are offered year-round to the public.
