Dinosaur Discovery Days

Dinosaur Discovery Days are free outdoor events hosted by Dinosaur Ridge at the Main Visitor Center Complex and along the Ridge Trail on the second Saturday of the month between May and October.

Volunteers are stationed along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail at significant interpretive sites, while many others staff booths and activities at the Main Visitor Center Complex for kids of all ages. Visitors can hike at their own pace or take the shuttle bus for a small fee on these special days.

Discovery Days 2019

June 1 – National Dinosaur Day – 9 am to 3 pm
September 21 – Boy Scout Day – 9 am to 3 pm
October 14 – Girl Scout Day – 9 am to 3 pm

National Dinosaur Day—June 1

Date: Saturday, June 1 from 9 am-3 pm

Join us for National Dinosaur Day–a day of education and celebration of the amazing creatures that frequented the Dinosaur Freeway and left their footprints (and bones) at Dinosaur Ridge.

Boy Scout Day—September 21

Date: Saturday, September 21 from 9 am-3 pm

Join us for Boy Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge. Scouts of all ages will have a fun-filled day of geology and paleontology. Cub Scouts and Webelos will be able to earn belt loops and academic pins. Boy Scouts will be able to earn their Geology Merit Badges. There will be amazing vendors such as: Mr. Bones, Western Interior Paleontological Society, USGS, Wildlife Experience, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory plus Dinosaur Ridge volunteers at the paleontological sites along the Ridge AND manning hands-on activities such as gold panning, metal detecting, track painting, and fossil sifting at our Main Visitor Center.

Girl Scout Day—October 14

Girl Scout Day at Dino RidgeDate: Saturday in October (Exact date TBD)

Join us for our annual Girl Scout Day at Dinosaur Ridge! It’s also National Fossil Day, so come learn about fossils and celebrate. All Girl Scouts, friends, and family are invited. We’ll have representative from area STEM organizations with activities for the girls.
