Calling all storytellers and character creators! In this drawing-focused camp, campers will design original cartoon characters and bring them to life through comics. We’ll explore styles like anime, manga, and chibi while learning how artists use expression, movement, and multiple frames to tell a story. Campers will build characters, settings, and short comics using materials like pencils, pen and ink, colored pencils, and pastels. This camp is primarily drawing-based, with only light writing involved. Please chat with your camper about creative storytelling boundaries at camp -- we do not permit violence, including guns and knives, in student's stories. We will share this with students at the beginning of the week, and support shifting ideas away from realistic violence. Because conflict in comics is a common theme, we do allow things like laser shooters, water ball cannons, or other more fantasy based tools for conflict within stories.
