Coding with Kids - Minecraft Server Modding

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/31/2020
Campers will learn how to create their own mods as well as code and run their own Minecraft Servers! Students will even get to try out what their peers have created by connecting to and playing in each other’s servers. So cool!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Ages: 12-17 Tools: Minecraft, Eclipse, Hamachi Length: 1 week Prerequisites: Minecraft PC/Mac Account (Students need to bring their own Minecraft login for camps). If you do not already have a Minecraft PC/Mac account, you can purchase one through the official Minecraft websitePrevious Java experience or other text-based programing language (JavaScript, C#, etc.)

CAMP DESCRIPTION: This camp introduces concepts of Java programming using professional tools and environments. Campers will write native Minecraft mods (modifications that change the game in some way) - just like the real developers do! Some mods can add new enemies, tools, or maps to the game. We will also learn what goes into making our own computer server and how we can add code to it that will be usable by Minecraft. And finally, the best part - trying out our peers’ Mods by connecting to and playing in each other’s server! So cool!
