Clay Camps at Studio Arts Boulder

Studio Arts Boulder offers week-long camps for kids ages 6 and up.
Join us for clay camp (ages 6-12), where kids learn the basics of ceramics hand-building. Campers will experiment with low-fire clay and discover ways to build functional pottery as well as creative sculpture — monsters and mugs, nature-inspired works, zoo creatures, and anything they dream up. Each week campers will spend Monday and Tuesday making pieces to glaze (a hard, glossy finish). On Wednesday and Thursday, campers will make work to decorate on Friday with acrylic paints, feathers, string, and more. All pottery will be ready to take home at the end of camp on Friday.
Our wheel-throwing camps (offered for ages 8-16) are open to students of all skill levels. Each camp includes hands-on assistance to help every camper grow in wheel-throwing, trimming, and glazing. Monday and Tuesday are days to make pieces on the wheel. Wednesday is trimming and adding handles or lids. Thursday is a hand-building day so that Friday can be spent in the glaze room finishing all the pieces made that week. Pottery from this camp will be fired in our gas kilns and ready for pick up 2-3 weeks after camp finishes.
