Ceramic Relief Tiles for Kids

Stop by the Curtis Center for the Arts after school to have fun designing and constructing your very own ceramic tile. Students will learn the basics of clay construction which will include coiling, pinching and slab work to create a ceramic relief (image will look like it is coming off the surface!).

Stop by the Curtis Center for the Arts after school to have fun designing and constructing your very own ceramic tile. Students will learn the basics of clay construction which will include coiling, pinching and slab work to create a ceramic relief (image will look like it is coming off the surface!).
Class will begin with students drawing a scene/object of their choice onto a wet ceramic. Then students will build it up and carve sections of it away to create a relief. Finished pieces will be glazed and fired.
