Bird Banding

The station is open to the public on select weekend days from 7:30am–11:30 am. In addition, the Audubon Nature Center will be open to visitors and have volunteers available to greet you and guide you to the station. Private groups can book a personal visit to the banding station Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Easy to moderate walking required on flat trails.
Join our flock of supporters for this popular spring activity! To visit the Audubon Nature Center at Chatfield banding station, take C-470 to Wadsworth Blvd., then go south on Wadsworth about 4.4 miles. Turn left on Waterton Road and immediately left into the first parking lot at the Audubon Center sign. Naturalists at the nature center will direct you to the banding station. Public visitors to the banding station are asked to consider making a donation of $3.00 per person or more to support continuation of this program for generations to come. The Audubon Nature Center will also be open featuring unique bird and nature items such as used books, gifts, and birding guides.
Registration NOT required unless group exceeds 10 people. Fee for private groups: $10 for adults, $5 for children. If the bird banding station is busy, there may be timed sessions. Group visits over 10 people are available by reservation only. Please contactcommunityoutreach@denveraudubon.org to register your group for spring 2016.
