ASLD Summer Camp- From Art to Print: Creating Zines (Ages 14-17)
Zines are small homemade publications that are often short, cheaply produced and themed. They are largely rooted in punk subcultures and have been used to spread art, comics, journals, and poetry in a quick way. Now they have a life of their own in the illustration, book arts and writing communities! Come explore these unique book forms!

We will learn several different ways to make zines and then spend time filling them with the media of our choosing. Students will make several mockups in addition to the final pieces. Zines are a free form way of creating and expressing yourself, so bring poetry, song lyrics, comic ideas, collage elements, etc to fill the pages of these projects! They can be deeply personal or explore a topic of your interest. As long as you are willing to create you are welcome to join.
