Join us for our very popular Art Lab class! In this weekly after school art class for ages 5 - 8 kids experience a wide variety of mediums while learning technique and gaining skills in both 2D and 3D work. Each class incorporates creative choice to support children building their artistic voice, intuition, and confidence (our motto is “You are the artist. You get to decide!”) while getting to work with clay, paints, fabrics, drawing materials, wire, and so much more! We truly have a blast creating together in community in our inspiring studio during Art Lab.
Each semester, we choose a guiding theme to inspire our curriculum. This semester, we’ll be using the Elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, as we build, paint, draw and make unique creations! Think of a mesmerizing density jar, colorful sand art, blown ink tree paintings, cyanotypes, ceramic wind chimes, clay creatures, and windsocks to name just a few.
*A note about the Elements: We’re sensitive to our community impacted by the Marshall fire, and want to share that the “fire” element here will be focused around stars and the sun, as well as ceramics and kiln firing. We’ll take a kiln tour, learn about traditional ceramic firing techniques, and make cyanotypes (sun prints) as we explore this side of the elements.
