All Around the Farm

This year, young farmers ages 6-9 will enjoy another unforgettable summer at TUF - the farm in the city. Each summer, children who attend our-week long day camp develop their connection to the earth and the cycles of nature. New and returning campers grow along with the plants and animals, nurturing their minds, senses, curiosity and confidence.
Through the course of the week together, we build a sense of confidence and stewardship. Each day, campers will focus on a particular area of the Farm, learning how to care for animals, cultivate crops, and nurture the land. Animal interactions including playing and working with sheep, goats, chickens, rabbits, cattle, donkey and miniature horses. Campers will get their hands in the dirt while gardening in soil and then travel to the greenhouse to learn the magic and science behind growing food with Aeroponics and Aquaponics. We offer a range of authentic, hands-on activities that invite participation in the farm’s day-to-day operations. In addition, their time here will include crafts, songs, and games supporting what they learned and experienced day.
As farmers, one of the most important things we do is observe. Your Junior farmer will spend time observing what plants need, and how caring for them properly allows them to thrive. We will observe how animals interact with each other and with us. We will observe different farm tasks, and how each part of the farm fits together to create a harmonious whole.
Campers’ families will also receive emails from camp leaders that describe the week’s events and discoveries and include photos of the adventures! With counselors who share a sense of wonder and fun, we welcome all young people who want to live, thrive, connect, play, and discover on the farm. Let’s grow together!
What to bring: Each camper should have a packed lunch, water bottle, sun protection (sunscreen and hat), and closed toed shoes.
