THINQ109: Virtual Robotics Summer Intensive- Session 1
*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 08/07/2020
This intensive 20-hour class introduces young adults to the world of robotics using LEGO MINDSTORM robots. The exciting world of robotics is joined in with the nostalgic fun of LEGO toys for this fun, hands-on class. Students will be lent kits for the duration of the class, and will be able to design, build and program their robots right at home. As they guide their robot through various challenges and tasks, students will not only learn the basics of robotics, but will also develop critical thinking, research and presentation skills.
Due to the complexity involved in learning robotics, our intensive programs are kept intentionally small, with six students maximum, and two instructors serving at each class in order to spend more time building valuable skills in programming and problem solving.
Suitable for children ages 11-14. There is no previous experience required, and beginners are welcome! The course is taught by Sam Bonfante and Meeghan Appleman, volunteer coaches for TVCOG's First Lego League Team, and experienced Lego Robotics instructors.
Session 2 takes place from 1-3pm on the following dates: August 12-14, 17-21, 24, 25
Registration Fee: $500*
*Please note that the registration fee does not include the refundable $100 materials deposit for the robotics kits. Kits are to be picked up from our facility before the course begins, and dropped back off at the end of the course; please bring a check for the materials deposit when picking up your kit. Deposits will be returned once the kits are returned.
