Run to the Shrine has been rescheduled! Join us Sunday, August 30, 2020 for this annual fundraiser for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It is a 4-mile race that winds through the Zoo with giraffe, elephants and wallabies along the way. Participants can run, walk or even crawl their way to new heights through this unique picturesque climb to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. Enjoy the stunning views of Colorado Springs below while ascending nearly 1,000 feet in elevation as you make your way to the top. This event is the ONLY time foot traffic is allowed on the stunning road up to the Shrine.
The race is chip-timed, and it is a great route for competitive athletes, weekend warriors, casual walkers and families of all ages. Jogging strollers with safety equipment are welcome!
Run to the Shrine race registration includes Zoo admission for the rest of the day (up to a $24 value per person!), a commemorative performance T-shirt featuring our animal mascot (T-shirt sizes are available while supplies last. Register soon to get your preferred size.) and a post-event party at the Zoo's Lodge at Moose Lake. All proceeds help feed and care for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's animals. Since the Zoo does not receive any tax support, community fundraisers like Run to the Shrine help keep the zoo “running”.
For all the details, visit www.cmzoo.org/run. Registration is open now!
