The Path: Professionals Share the Stories of Their Careers

The goal of this series is to show tweens/teens that many people don’t just decide they are going to be (insert career title here) and that is the end of the story. They have taken roundabout paths, done a variety of completely different things, tried more than one field—and guess what? That’s okay! It’s time to demystify the idea of a straight line career path.

About Karin:

Karin M. Tucker is a Copyright Licensing specialist with 16 years of experience in the publishing industry. Karin has worked for various publishers including Pearson Education and Scientific American, the oldest continuously published magazine in the United States. She is currently the Subsidiary Rights & Licensing Manager with the University of California Press, one of the most forward-thinking scholarly publishers, committed to influencing public discourse and challenging the status quo. Karin is a Harvard University CopyrightX alumna and was recently appointed to the Intellectual Property and Copyright Committee of the Association of University Presses. Karin holds a B.A in Interdisciplinary Studies (with an emphasis in African-American Studies, Communication, and Sociology) from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

About Chris:

Chris is a partner at Kekst CNC in New York City where he oversees executive positioning, global media campaigns and reputation management for clients ranging from Fortune 100 companies to international financial entities to civic endeavors. He has a diverse portfolio of clients including: corporations, financial institutions, executives, celebrities, estates, athletes, as well as academic and philanthropic institutions.

Prior to joining Kekst CNC, he served as president of HL Strategic Solutions, where he established the corporate and crisis practice. Chris has held positions at Kroll Associates, the investigations firm; NBC News, where he served as an investigative producer on Dateline; Rubenstein Associates, where he counseled corporate and legal clients, and as the Vice President of Global Communications at the Estee Lauder Companies.
