Drawing + Painting: 6th grade-Teens
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email firstname.lastname@example.org so we can update it immediately.
We teach the artistic process and artistic behavior. Kids learn how artists get ideas and are encouraged to be unique and express themselves.
Artwork created will not be cookie cutter or almost identical to someone else. Because we focus on the entire artistic process and the child as an individual, the quantity of work and what is made will depend on how your child likes to work. Kids that need more exploring and discovery time may go home with more practice work than someone who is ready to invest a lot of time into making a more finished piece. Your child will make work that is exciting and meaningful to them. We teach techniques and concepts, but if your child is not quite ready to implement something, or is not interested, we do not force them to put it into practice. Observation is a great learning tool too. Once we get to know your child, we meet them at their level and challenge them when they are ready.
If your child likes using a sketchbook, please bring one. Any size or type is fine. Loose paper for sketching and idea generation will be provided in the studio.
