Beauty and the Beast Summer Theatre Camp for Grades 3-9 | Kids Out and About Denver

Beauty and the Beast Summer Theatre Camp for Grades 3-9

It's a tale as old as time: when an enchantress turns a selfish prince into a hideous Beast and his staff into objects, the adventurous Belle may be his only hope at finding love and returning the palace to normal. Be our guest on an "adventure in the great wide somewhere" - learning all of your favorite songs and playing larger-than-life characters from Disney's Oscar-winning hit!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Summers are like no other at Stagebugz! Join us for a magical, musical season to remember with programs for performers of all ages and experience levels. Camp days will be spent learning new skills through scenes, music, and dances from your favorite shows while playing games, making friends, and having lots of fun! As always, each student is guaranteed at least one line and a solo as we share what we learned for friends and family on the last day of camp.

Beauty and the Beast camp is designed to give students in rising grades 3-9 of all experience levels a taste of all things theatre by moving at their own pace and exposing them to multiple elements of putting on a production. Performers will build their skills as a triple-threat and learn how to apply these skills to different types of music and dance. Each student will also engage with both dramatic and comedic material from the show as they develop their characters and explore acting techniques. Camp days will be filled with theatre games, team-building, and activities for a busy and exciting week, leading up to a final showcase on the last day!

Age Groups & Double Casting

*Campers will spend the majority of each camp day rehearsing, learning, playing, and taking breaks in groups with peers of a similar age. However, campers will have opportunities to interact as a full group, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.

There will be two casts for our final showcase, determined based on age/grade level, parent requests, student goals, and casting requirements. Each cast will perform in their own showcase: Cast A at 12 PM, and Cast B immediately following at 1 PM.

Aside from the performance time, cast placement will not affect camp dates, times, or locations. Siblings will be placed in the same cast unless otherwise requested, and we will do our best to honor requests to be placed in the same cast as carpool buddies, friends, etc. Final assignments will be made at the instructors' discretion in order to best accommodate every child's needs, and registered campers should be prepared to be placed in either cast.

Cast placement will be sent out with the cast list on Monday evening. All characters are open to performers of all ages.

Dates, Times, and Location

June 8th-June 12th, 2026

9 AM-1 PM

Camp and showcase will be held indoors at Columbine United Church (6375 S Platte Canyon Road; Littleton, CO 80123)

Auditions

On the first day of camp, students will go through an informal, low-stakes "audition" workshop where they will learn a short song and dance, and have an opportunity to read scenes or recite lines from the show. No prior preparation is necessary, but materials will be sent out one week prior to the start of camp in order to help mitigate nerves for anyone who prefers to see them in advance.

All registered performers are guaranteed at least one speaking line and one solo in the final showcase, and our small class sizes ensure that each performer receives ample time in the spotlight. Auditions simply help us to determine where everyone will learn the most and have the best experience. They are not meant to be stressful or overwhelming; they are part of the camp experience because they are a stress-free way to introduce students to the audition process if they should choose to continue pursuing theatre in the future! However, we never want the prospect of auditioning to prevent a child from participating. If this is something your child is not comfortable with, please reach out to stagebugztheatre@gmail.com and we would be happy to discuss alternative options.
