Saturday October 5: Masquerade!: 10:30-12:00pm
Do you dress up and put on a disguise to turn into something different during the month of October?
You’re not alone! Invertebrates around the world use their own masks – camouflage – to disguise their appearance. They adorn lavish patterns and colors to stand out from the crowd and startle would-be predators, or complex disguises to remain unseen, concealing their true location, identity or movements to escape their enemies or sneakily approach their prey.
Join us as we explore the *brand-new, October-only* Bugtober exhibits, see animals disguised and flamboyantly adorned in their habitats, play camouflage games, and make your very own masquerade mask.
Takeaway: Invertebrate Masquerade Mask
Saturday November 2: Bug Bites: 10:30-12:00pm
Americans have been eating turkey for Thanksgiving for a long time, but people all over the world have been eating bugs for much longer! Join Butterfly Pavilion as we learn how people and animals feast on all types of invertebrates – and even try a buggy treat! Bone(less) appetít!
Takeaway (to take or eat during the class): Cheddar Cheese Mealworms
Saturday December 7: Bugs in Winter: 10:30-12:00pm
Let’s get snug as a bug in a rug! Come join us for an exploration of hibernating bugs! Through games and crafts we will discover where bugs go in the winter and how they survive freezing temperatures.
