All camps incorporate nature, science, adventure, creativity, exploration and live animals.
2019 Summer Camp FAQs
Week 1: June 3 – 7 | Zookeeper in Training: Are your kids always bringing home bugs? Do they love taking care of animals? In this camp, we are going behind the scenes of Butterfly Pavilion to see what it takes to be a Zookeeper. We’ll meet real Zookeepers & we’ll even get to care for our very own animals!
Week 2: June 10 – 14 | WILD Colorado Backyards: You don’t have to take a plane to discover the wild—in Colorado, it’s right here in our backyards! Join us as we explore our BRAND NEW exhibit Colorado Backyards, have up close and personal wildlife experiences, discover native plants and animals, and run, jump and explore the natural playground that is all around us!
Week 3: June 17 – 21 | Beekeeper in Training: Find out what all the buzz is about in this hands-on camp! Campers will spend the week in a fun and educational immersion into the fascinating world of bees and other pollinators! We will learn about honey bee biology, native bees, and their vital role in our world. We will meet an expert beekeeper, learn how honey is made and get to look inside of a real hive!
Week 4: June 24 – 28 | Aquatic Adventurers: Rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, and saltwater tanks – all teeming with life! Discover aquatic invertebrates like stoneflies and crawdads, find out what makes a healthy waterway, meet real ocean animals, and prepare to get splashed during this wet and wild week.
*Special Family Day Camps*: July 1 & July 2 will feature camps for grandparents, parents and kids to attend together.
- July 1 | Butterfly Bonanza: Is your family bananas about butterflies? We’ll explore wings, flight, pollination and all kinds of butterfly behaviors in this fun class. Through crafts, games, and time spent in our rainforest, we’ll be fully immersed in the magic of these beautiful creatures.
- July 2 | Crazy Crustaceans: Crawdad, hermits and lobsters – oh my! Butterfly Pavilion is going underwater to meet some colorful characters. We’ll go under the sea in our Water’s Edge exhibit, search for crawdads in the stream, and see what it’s like to live with a house on your back in this crazy camp.

Week 9: August 5 – 9 | Kid vs. Wild Survival Camp: Are you ready for adventure? Join us for an exciting outdoor adventure camp filled with hiking, shelter building, map reading, tracking, and other amazing survival skills! Be prepared to face the great outdoors as things get wild!
Please note: One t-shirt is included with registration. Additional shirts from previous years are also available for sale. Payment is due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available for up to 50% of camp cost for qualifying students. If you are applying for a scholarship, you must fill out the scholarship application form.

Extended Care Options
- Early Drop Off (8 am – 8:45 am): $10/day or $40/week
- Late Pick Up (4:15 – 5:00 pm): $10 day or $40/week
